season's greetings to all visitors

from Tom Cannavan, 24th December

I would like to offer my very best wishes to all wine-pages visitors this festive season, and all the best for the year ahead.

It has been another great year for wine-pages, with over 300 articles published, £5,000 worth of prizes given away in competitions, and the UK Wine Forum going from strength to strength: now with 4,312 members. I tasted thousands of wines and reported on over 1,500 of them, and we added more great resources such as our growing collection of Restaurants with Rooms reviews and major features on the world's wine regions.

On a personal level I had lots of reasons to celebrate. First, November 2011 saw the 16th anniversary of wine-pages.com first being published. Award-wise I finished my year as holder of the Portuguese Wine Writer of the Year title by presenting my 50 Great Portuguese wines in London and Edinburgh and I was once again shortlisted for a Roederer wine writing award. My regular weekly slot on Scottish TV ended after two year when magazine show The Hour was dropped from the schedule, but I still film feature pieces for STV and have become the resident wine expert on Fred MacAulay's morning show on BBC Radio Scotland. On Twitter a huge thanks to my 4,000 followers!

wine-pages will be updated occasionally over the holiday period, including my Wines of the Year - plus as always I will be asking you to submit your lists for publication.

To all who have helped make another very successful and enjoyable year for wine-pages during 2011 - including sponsors of the site, visitors, contributors and people who have helped me behind the scenes - may I wish you a very peaceful and happy Christmas and a great and prosperous 2012.
